I don't play Dave Dobbyn. Ever.

Last week I was playing one of my favorite club nights to DJ at - Teenage Kicks an "indie" club night every Wednesday at Cassette - I play there once a month, pretty much. And it's always heaps of fun - busting out those indie bangers and slipping in some new tunes.

But this one dude came over to the DJ booth at about 3am and was "hey bro! bro! .... hey bro!" (I was kinda busy cueing up a track, so didn't leap to attention immediately for him)

"Hey mate - whats up?" I finally acknowedged - to be honest expecting that he would say play some dubstep. DOn't get me wrong I really like *SOME* dubstep - but y'know not in the middle of an 'indie' set - it's just not going to work.

But no, it was worse...

"Play Dave Dobbyn Loyal, bro"

"No"

"Why not?"

"I don't want to"

"Do you have it?"

"No"

*incredulous look from punter*

*mimicked incredulous look back from DJ*

Just say NO to DOBO

Blog is back

Ok.. so I've kinda let this blog slide - but it's time to come back!

So, on Friday night I had a ball DJing at the Orientation Gig for Auckland Uni - with a fun-filled line up of Kids of 88, Zowie, Computers Want Me Dead, Pikachunes and O'Lovely.

Was heaps of fun and if you were one of those crazy dancers during my sets - thank you, you were awesome!

I played a party-style set including shizz like Crookers, Natalie Storm, Zinc, Kid Cudi, The Knocks, Yeasayer, Nas and Damian Marley, Camo & Krooked and Sub Focus but even some Gaga, Beyonce and Akon got slipped into the mix! Ha!

These two numbers made the kids explode:
